Empowering Communities Through Knowledge: The Importance of 988 and 211 Services

In our journey at Project Human Inc. (PHInc), we have always believed in the power of knowledge and community support in navigating mental and emotional health challenges.

Today, we want to shine a light on two crucial resources that can make a significant difference in times of need: the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the 211 service provided by United Way.

Understanding the importance of 988 and 211 services: The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, operational since July 2022, is a lifeline for anyone experiencing mental health crises, including thoughts of suicide, emotional distress, or substance abuse issues. This easy-to-remember, nationwide phone number connects individuals to trained crisis counselors who provide immediate support and guidance.

On the other hand, the 211 service is a comprehensive information and referral line that helps individuals navigate a wide range of social services. From finding food and housing to seeking employment and healthcare counseling, 211 serves as a gateway to various essential resources.

The Need for Awareness

Despite the critical nature of these services, there remains a significant gap in public awareness and accessibility. Many individuals who could benefit from these resources either do not know they exist or do not fully understand how they can be of help. This is where our role as a community and as an advocacy group becomes vital.

PHInc.'s Mission and Survey

At PHInc., we are dedicated to bridging this gap in awareness and access. To better understand how we can serve our community, we have launched a survey to gauge public knowledge and perceptions of the 988 and 211 services. We encourage you to participate in this survey [insert survey link here]. Your input is crucial in shaping our future initiatives and advocacy efforts.

Survey Link - please take 2 min and fill out the survey to help us better understand the gap in resource access.

Your participation and support can help save lives and build stronger, healthier communities.
