Recap of PHInc. Monthly Community Conversations: Key Insights and Resources for Mental Wellness

Thank you for being part of PHInc.’s Monthly Community Conversations. Whether you joined live, watched the replay, or carried the message into your own life, these conversations exist so none of us have to navigate life’s weight alone. This recap highlights the last three sessions, offering replay links, practical takeaways, and resources you can use right now to support your mental wellness journey.

Mental health isn’t something you “have” or “don’t have.” Our mental and emotional well-being isn’t fixed and un-moving.

January Session: Mental Wellness and Small Steps

The January conversation focused on mental wellness as a continuum. Mental health is not a fixed state where you either have it or you don’t. Instead, it shifts over time, and recognizing where you are helps you take meaningful next steps.

Key takeaway: Mental health moves along a spectrum from thriving, to functioning, to surviving. Naming your current place on this continuum allows you to choose one small, manageable step toward steadiness.

Practical advice from January

  • Take two minutes to name where you are today: thriving, functioning, or surviving.

  • Choose one small action that supports you, such as drinking water, taking a short walk, texting someone you trust, or practicing deep breathing.

  • Remember, small steps count and build momentum.

Resources shared in January

  • NAMI Peer-to-Peer (Jacksonville)

A free support group for people living with mental health conditions.

  • Here Tomorrow “Get Immediate Help”

Quick access to crisis resources and support.

  • Crisis support: Call or text 988 if you are in immediate need (US).

February Session: Self Love and Restoring Your Cup

February’s conversation explored self-love as an essential practice, not a luxury. Taking care of yourself first allows you to show up with more clarity, calm, and capacity for others.

Key takeaway: Self-care is stewardship. When you restore your energy, you build resilience and sustain meaningful connections.

Activity to try

  • Reflect on your “Energy Cup”: What drains your energy? What truly nourishes you?

  • Make a three-day promise to yourself. Choose one simple, doable action that fills your cup and commit to it.

Resources shared in February

  • Self-Care Wheel by Olga Phoenix Project

A tool to identify different areas of self-care and balance.

  • Research links shared during the session for those who want to explore the science behind self-care.

  • A free support group for people living with mental health conditions.

Forgiveness can become a DECISION that removes suffering from within ourselves and from the relationships (others) we value.

March MCC — Forgiveness: Releasing the Weight We Carry

March conversation explores what forgiveness is.

Forgiveness is not pressure. It’s an exploration of healing—sometimes slowly, sometimes in layers—and always with boundaries.

Key takeaway: Forgiveness does not mean accepting harm again. You can forgive and still maintain strong, healthy boundaries.

Activity to try

  • “The Weight We Carry”— Take 2 minutes to clench, notice, then release.

  • What did you feel when you clenched? When you released?

Forgiveness can be the moment we loosen the grip pain has on our nervous system.

Practical Steps You Can Take Today

These conversations are designed to give you tools you can use immediately. Here are some simple ways to apply what you’ve learned:

  • Name your mental state daily. Check in honestly with yourself about where you are on the mental wellness continuum.

  • Choose small, manageable actions that support your well-being. Even a few deep breaths or a short walk can make a difference.

  • Practice self-care intentionally. Use tools like the Self-Care Wheel to identify what nourishes you and commit to small actions regularly.

  • Reach out for support when needed. Use trusted resources like NAMI or crisis lines to connect with others.

Looking Ahead

PHInc.’s Monthly Community Conversations are here to remind us that mental wellness is a journey, not a destination. Each session offers practical insights and resources to help you move forward, no matter where you start.

Keep engaging with these conversations, try the suggested activities, and share what you learn with others. Together, we build a community where no one faces life’s challenges alone.

Thank you for being part of this community. Remember, your mental wellness matters every day, and small steps can lead to meaningful change.
